Introduction to Advocacy

A History of the Battered Women's Movement (ITA100)

Description
This informative module features a timeline exploring centuries of violence perpetrated against women and children. Basic human rights did not exist for women until the 1900s. You’ll understand how the 1960’s civil rights, anti-war and feminist movements contributed to the birth of the battered women’s movement and the opening of shelters across the country. You’ll learn about significant people and historic events that contributed to your advocacy work and the growth of Ohio’s domestic violence programs.
